The video link is a collection of off the shelf components and a custom controller board.  The major subsystems include the following.

UHF Receiver  The payload computer utilizes a low power UHF transmitter to send command and data information to other packages within the payload train.  The video link payload utilizes information from the payload computer to display latitude/longitude, ground speed and heading, station call sign, and flight time.  The link utilizes a 1200 bps ASK modulation link that is manchester encoded and verified with a 16-bit CRC.

Controller  The controller board utilizes a Microchip PIC18F252 flash memory based processor running at 3.6864MHz.

Camera  Provides a video signal to the S-Band modulator and accepts command by an RS-232 port from the controller board.

S-Band Modulator  The S-Band transmitter is a common, low cost Microwave module manufactured by Comtech.  It is available from a number of on-line vendors for less than $50.  It features an SMA output connector, video and stereo audio inputs, and programmable frequency through an I2C interface.

PA  The PA (Power Amplifier) is based on a M/A-COM MA02303GJ RF Power Amplifier for the 2.4 GHz ISM band.

Li-Ion Battery Pack  Complete information on these cells is available in the Power Sources section.

DC/DC Converter  Provides 12VDC to the video modulator, 5 VDC to the PA, and 3.3 VDC to the controller.
