All the components of the NSRV Beacon are mounted to an aluminum base plate. The base plate is easily removed and installed within the NSRV Beacon enclosure. Each corner of the base plate has a mounting hole that is secured with a hex head screw. The mating hardware, shown below and circled in blue, is mounted to cross members within the structure. Mounting is greatly simplified, because there aren't any nuts or blind hardware located behind the plate that must be held in place when tightening the mounting screws.

Shown below, is a side view of the NSRV Beacon base plate. The top of the base plate includes the controller and GPS engine. The bottom includes the RF transceiver. The controller board, GPS Engine, and radio are mounted on top of standard hex, aluminum spacers. All components may be independently added or removed from the base plate. The hex hardware is first secured to the base plate and then each component is mounted on top.
