Analog I/O

Shown below is the analog I/O board that contains a 24-bit ADC (Analog to Digital Converter).  The PCB has an on board linear regulator that provides +5 volts of low ripple DC power.  The heart of the system is an Analog Devices AD7734 24-bit ADC.  The large dynamic range eliminates need to use op-amps to scale voltage.  An on board digital filter rejects out of band signals.  The ADC provides an 4-channel multiplexer to select the measurement channel.  The board provides the following analog measurements:

Pitot (Air Speed) Sensor - The Pitot port (air speed sensor) is Motorola MPX5100DP piezoresistive silicon pressure sensor that measures the difference between the static port and the Pitot tube.  The difference in pressure is corrected for altitude, temperature, and humidity to determine the true air speed.

Static (Pressure) Sensor - The SenSym ASCX15AN provides absolute pressure from Sea Level (14.7 PSI) through vacuum.  The pressure at 100,000' is approximately 0.98 PSI.

MEMS Gyro - The Analog Devices ADXRS150 is a complete angular rate sensor (gyroscope) that uses a surface-micromachining process to make a functionally complete and low cost angular rate sensor integrated with all of the required electronics on one chip.  The gyroscope also contains an on board temperature sensor for calibrating the gyroscope over temperature.

Analog Interface.  The red jumper wire is a fix added after the PCB was built.
