Overview
GNU radio
is an open source SDR (Software Defined Radio) project. Like SSB was to
AM, it holds great promise for the future of all communications, including
amateur radio, as they move to the digitial domain.
|
From the GNU radio web site, "GNU Radio is a collection of software that when combined with minimal hardware, allows the construction of radios where the actual waveforms transmitted and received are defined by software. What this means is that it turns the digital modulation schemes used in today's high performance wireless devices into software problems." |
I won't replicate all the fast changing hardware and software details on
this site.
Visit the GNU Radio -
The GNU Software Radio project web site for software details.
For
additional information on the hardware, visit Matt's website, Ettus Research LLC, the producer of the USRP hardware. |
